History & Mission
The Linden Center is a nonprofit mental health residential and day treatment program which serves children and adolescentswith severe behavioral and emotional problems, of racially and economically diverse backgrounds throughout the greater Los Angeles area. Established in 1980, the Linden Center began as a one classroom school and one residential home for six children. With the rapidly growing demand for the Linden Center’s services, the one classroom has now become 13 classrooms, and the one residential home has become two comfortable residences.
The Linden Center is widely recognized as one of the highest quality facilities of its kind anywhere and is licensed and certified by the State of California Department of Children's Services, the State of California Department of Mental Health, and the State of California Department of Education.
Linden Center currently serves 80 severely emotionally disturbed and learning handicapped youngsters referred by 8 surrounding school districts in our school and 12 adolescents in our 24-hour residential program.
The mission of the Linden Center is to meet the emotional, behavioral and learning needs of special education students and at-risk youth, and to provide an array of services that will culminate in successful transition to less restrictive living and educational environments, employment, lifelong learning, and quality of adult life.
